ABOUT KUMEU CRICKET CLUB

Kumeū began as a country club playing arranged fixtures in 1943. After the end of World War Two, Kumeū joined the Kaipara Cricket Association in which it competed until 1954. Kumeū had teams competing in both the Kaipara and Auckland suburban competitions for a further two more seasons before moving to playing solely in the Auckland Suburban Cricket Association.

Kumeū played from 1953 to 1961 in the Auckland Suburban Cricket Association, winning through the grades and eventually being promoted to the top grade (Senior A). Kumeū Cricket Club joined the Auckland Cricket Association (ACA) in 1962/63. In 1993/94, Kumeūalong with five other clubs left the ACA and joined the North Harbour Cricket Association.

Two years later, North Harbour’s bid to be the seventh major association in New Zealand Cricket fell over and Kumeū returned to the ACA again. In 2017 Kumeū Cricket Club’s men’s team was invited to play in the Auckland Cricket Premier T20 competition for the first time.  Kumeū also had teams in the Auckland Cricket Premier Reserves minor,  One Day and Two day grades. 2nd team plays in B2 and the 3rd Team plays in B3 competition.  In 2021/22 Kumeū Cricket Club was inducted into the Premier Men's division in the Tom Hellaby Minor Two Day and the Richard Jones Minor One Day competitions. 

Junior cricket at Kumeū starts from Year 1 at school (Softball), Hard ball cricket starts at Year 5. New members are always welcome at the club.
